About us
Innovative solutions for mechanical water and wastewater pre-treatment
The roots of Wilo FSM go back to 1970. Since the company’s foundation by Dieter Frankenberger, the focus has remained firmly on technologies for mechanical pre-treatment of water and wastewater. FSM initially operated as a manufacturing partner for German plant engineers. From the mid‑1980s onwards, the company developed its own products and systems for the international market.
Wilo FSM now ranks among the established providers of screening systems, conveying technology and mechanical cleaning systems for wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, power plants and seawater desalination plants. More than 2,000 completed projects worldwide highlight the brand’s technical performance. Machines from Pohlheim operate across the globe – from New Zealand to Hawaii.
With around 130 employees at several locations, Wilo FSM stands for robust engineering, a high level of in‑house manufacturing and continuous innovation – from standard solutions through to demanding bespoke systems.
In June 2026, Wilo FSM expanded the office and production facilities at Pohlheim. This investment strengthens manufacturing capacity and increases efficiency in production. As the stainless-steel competence centre within Wilo Water Treatment, the Pohlheim site continuously develops and manufactures advanced water and wastewater solutions.

HydroM.E.S.I.®
HydroM.E.S.I.® Particle Separator Type STATIC
Inclined plate clarifier for efficient fine particle separation
Combined sewer overflows and stormwater discharges can introduce significant pollutant loads into receiving waters. Suspended solids in wastewater often act as carriers for contaminants such as heavy metals, PAHs, mineral oils and environmental hormones. Fine particles and organic solids in particular have a high adsorption capacity and can bind pollutants effectively. The Lamella Clarifier ensures efficient removal of these particles.
Type
Inclined plate clarifier for efficient fine particle separation
Application
The Lamella Clarifier is based on a modular and expandable system for the highly efficient separation of fine particles from combined and stormwater runoff through sedimentation. It is suitable for integration into new central sedimentation facilities as well as for retrofitting existing plants. The system can also be used in decentralised treatment units.
Your Benefits
Fixed inclined lamella plates provide a large settling area within a compact footprint.
The separator geometry reduces the surface loading rate and significantly increases sedimentation performance.
Fine particles are separated between plates or within tubes. Sedimentation is enhanced by the upward flow and requires no additional energy.
Modular and expandable system suitable for both new installations and retrofitting existing facilities.
Screening washing press
Hygienic and efficient screenings treatment
The disposal of wet or insufficiently dewatered screenings is costly due to their high water content and resulting weight. In addition, faecal matter should be returned to the wastewater treatment process. The FSM Screenings Washing Press significantly reduces the volume and weight of screenings while washing out up to 95% of faecal content. FSM Screenings Washing Presses offer high performance with low operating costs.
